Counsel in October, 2009. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State University in 1988 with a B.A. in Political Science.
In 1991, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the Washington & Lee
University School of Law, where he participated on the school's law
review, graduated magna cum laude, and was inducted into the honor
society known as the Order of the Coif. Mr. Clark is admitted to
practice in all state trial and appellate courts in Virginia, as well as
in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western
Districts of Virginia and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is
also a member of the D.C. bar, admitted to practice in the D.C. courts,
the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the
U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
David Clark has over seventeen years of experience handling civil
litigation at all levels of Virginia's federal and state courts and in
the courts of several other states. For eight years prior to joining
the firm, Mr. Clark was special counsel to the international law firm of
Steptoe & Johnson, LLP, where he handled litigation matters involving
employment discrimination, insurance coverage, and business disputes
across many industries. As a part of his practice there, he often used
mediation and arbitration as tools for achieving cost-effective results
for his clients. Before that, Mr. Clark was a partner in the Alexandria
firm of Brincefield, Hartnett, Tompkins & Clark, where he handled real
estate litigation, employment law counseling and, less frequently,
personal injury and medical malpractice cases. Now, drawing on his
diverse background and experience representing both plaintiffs and
defendants, Mr. Clark provides the firm's clients with practical and
creative solutions for achieving their goals.
